Almost-Friday Fish Update

Our little fishies are growing nicely.  Alex has been home from school sick EVERY single day this week.  he's really been suffering poor baby and had to come to work with me on Tuesday.  He wasn't so bad on Tuesday so we went to the pet shop and fitted out our tank.  I figured the babies had survived and were actually growing so we should give them a proper home.

That's just one of the babies, hasn't he grown heaps already?

So I have happy fish and a happy family watching them grow :)

Well mostly happy other than my sick one who has hardly slept at all, it's wearing me down, so badly.....
I'm supposed to be heading off for a scrapping date tomorrow but I'm thinking Alexander will be home again and I'll have to postpone... :(

I worked last night, my class was BIG and spread over several rooms which was good because I got some exercise which goodness knows I need!  So there was champagne, giggles and gorgeous scrapping completed.  Speaking of work, Marie is giving away this month's Simply Said kit to a lucky comment leaver.  Click on her name or the Simply Said links and leave a comment and you might win.  It's a yummy kit!

More from Simply Said and I whipped this up the other night with CherryArte.  You will need your sunnies - isn't it bright??

Nice to just chuck together a quick layout and be happy with it :)

That's about it other than sickies, fish and lots of domestic stuff.  I'm hoping for a potter-around quiet weekend.....it's meant to snow near here (yay) so I reckon we'll be inside gathered around the heater - lol!

Okay have a happy Friday and seeya!!!!

MOTHER!!!!

Okay I admit it.  I have a SERIOUS addiction to the band Wolfmother .  Those guys seriously ROCK.  I'm not sure what attracts me to them.  I've always loved a bit of heavy music but I have been listening to the song "The Joker and the Thief" over and over all day today.  At work (yep sorry Amber I had to put it on the work computer - lol ), in the car, at home, right now in fact.  It's such a COOL song.  Anyway it's in my sidebar to the left there.  I'm warning you though, you need to listen to it LOUD.

Oh and it's there because seriously I think Johnny Knoxville is one of THE hottest dudes alive....;) While I think those Wolfmother boys need a haircut, putting Johnny Knoxville in their videoclip was a smart move for a chick who likes to perve on a bit of eye candy every now and then ;)

I put the cd in the car today and both Alexander and Madeleine were saying, "Turn it up Mum" in the car on the way to school and creche.  Of course I did and they loved it.  They were having a bit of a sing and an air guitar  play in the back of the car.  It was gorgeous to see them enjoying it.  Anyway we got to school and I pulled over and got out to open Alex's door and kiss him goodbye.  It became apparent after a few moments that the music was still playing loudly and coming from the speaker in my open car door and attracting a lot of stares from other parents.  Oh golly, am I too old for this stuff?  I was soooooooo embarrassed.  **BLUSH**   For goodness' sake I'm a 30-something old Mum.  I work in a SCRAPBOOK shop.  I'm meant to be conservative I think.  I've been contemplating joining parent's club and doing canteen duty.  I help out at kinder and do reading and here I am with heavy metal music blasting from my car like some 1980s bogan.  Remember that awesome word - BOGAN - love it - ROFLMAO.  Let's just say the parents looked at me like I was a freak and Alexander's friends thought his Mum was COOL - aw I drove off just about peeing my pants I was laughing - and cringing SO hard....

I've gone off track a bit but it's got me thinking today.   Like I said I'm not sure what attracts me to them.  After months of being addicted to the smooth mellow sounds of Jack Johnson and Pete Murray, this rockin' music has me surprised.  I think they remind me of 70s rock music.  The kind my parents listened to when I was a kid.  My parents were young.  Quite young in fact.  That made them and their friends cool.  Not that I knew it at the time - lol.  They had parties with their cool friends and cool music :)  So I'm thinking that Wolfmother maybe reminds me of then.  A really happy time for me. Of Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and  Led Zeppelin.  Music that to this day is still played heaps as it transcends trends.

Or, it could remind me of being a teenager.  Yep my best high school pal Raelene and I used to be the only girls in a kind of a 'gang' of heavy metal headed boys at school.  We didn't fit in much with the girls...Um yeah I was going to post a photo of us in our Megadeth t-shirts which would have been funny, but embarrassing......Despite the fact that we were confused teenagers just trying to fit in, it was actually one of the best periods of my life so far.  In retrospect.  Not at the time.  A gawky sixteen year old with blossoming body parts still developing, bitchy girls at school, cranky teachers and even crankier parents, boys boys boys, you know it - lol.  Hmm, I am busting to scrap that.  I'll add it to the list.........

Now speaking of scrapbooking, the new Scrapbooking For Beginner's magazine arrived at work today. I ripped it open to see as I knew I had two projects in there.  Well didn't I get a surprise to see the size of this layout in there:

32_small

Oh my goodness.  There was a customer that i know at the counter and I actually gasped when i found the page because I expected it to be printed small and it takes up a WHOLE page.  More peeing in my pants laughing.......even now while I'm typing.  Far out it was VERY confronting to see that!!!  Geez lucky I can laugh at myself and my serious dorkiness........aw rofl............mind you I cringe a bit every time I look at it - tee hee hee hee........

This is in there too:

My_guys_resize_1

I love how they presented my layouts in this magazine.  While the colours were not quite right, the projects have been presented beautifully, and they wrote the nicest things about my work.  The Scrapbooking For Beginner's book is produced by Universal magazines, same publishers as Scrapbook Creations and all I can say is THEY ROCK!!!  And so does that mag.  It's cheaper than the others and it's ONLY projects, not tonnes of ads and stuff - yummy!!!  No way is it only for beginners..

And, have you been to the Scrap to The Max gallery yet?  Have a look at the layouts from my Sheer Delight class, like seriously!  It still amazes me that I can teach a class from home.  No-one could see me sitting here like sweaty slob, and no-one could hear me telling my kids to get back to bed.  While it was heaps of work it was AWESOME to do it this way - woohoo, I can see I'm going to love doing this for a bit - hopefully :D

And I had a parent-teacher interview with Alexander's grade two teacher earlier tonight and she said he has NO problems with ANYTHING.  I didn't expect any  but truly she said it just like that.  She said how much she loves having him in class and covered the stuff they do and just couldn't have praised him enough.  He's at the top for his reading and for everything.  I'm SO proud of him.  She said he's breezing through school and so far he really has.  We've had the odd hiccup but honestly we couldn't be more lucky.  So, on Friday in the last 10 minutes of school, I'm taking icy poles for the whole grade.  I did a  bad bad thing yesterday.  I promised Alex I'd drop him in an icy pole to school at lunch time.  Icy poles for him and some of his friends.  So he told his friends.  And they waited.  And I FORGOT.  Oh my goodness, poor boy.  So I'm treating the whole grade and he thinks that's a good idea.

Okay that's about it for now.  It's nearly time for Men In Trees. I'm not normally a huge fan of TV but I'm loving this series.  I have a super huge long day at work tomorrow but that's okay, I have one of the best jobs in the world so you'll hear no complaints from me - except for this disgusting heat!

Okay stay cool and un-sweaty - lol, and thanks for stopping by ;)

Neglected

I've neglected my blog this weekend and it's not about to stop now.

I've got a HUGE post waiting to happen believe me.

I just have to get my head around it.

I've had a series of unusual events this weekend and I'm afraid I will make NO sense if I blog right now.

But I need to.

And mark my words I will.

But right now I have photos I need to edit and work to do.

I'll be back in the next day or so.

And I'll explain myself then - roflmao.....

PS - Don't worry about me I'm good ;) It's not bad stuff :)

Having a Bawl...........

Ever seen Memoirs of a Geisha ?

I've just watched it finally.

I'm now going to bed having a big sook.

It's not as if it was a particularly sad movie.

It just hit a nerve with me.

Something about faith in your hopes and dreams and that they can still come true even in the face of adversity.

Go and hire it, or better still, read the book.

I just might.

Night ;)

Where Have I Been???

I am still loving Snow A_st Patrol SO much.  I've been looking for their music everywhere and saying, "Oh I love that song" and I had no idea it was all the same band.  Anyway they have a huge fan in me right now.  Anyone in my car will be way subjected to their music and watch out for many a scrapped page using their lyrics ;)

Okay well on very short notice my gorgeous friend/boss lady/confidante/scrap adviser/crazy photo partner chick Amber gracefully worked for me this morning when I realised Alexander's school sports were on today.  He loves that I go to stuff and I try really hard to get to most things with him.  Sometimes it's hard to get there but I managed to go there for the morning and worked from lunchtime.

A_cd_resize_2

My boy did me proud and I really wanted to stay and cheer him on and yell loudly and take lots of photos.  I love his determination and willingness to participate in all things school related.  All the kids were gorgeous and enthusiastic.

After I finished work today I headed off in the other direction from home to FINALLY do some Christmas shopping.  Okay I admit it, I'm starting to look forward to Christmas.  Mostly so I can just stop watching the clock for a bit, so we can just relax, get up whenever, do whatever, whenever.  I'm really looking forward to it.  I was armed with a list because as I blogged a few days ago, I don't like to 'wander aimlessly (he he)'.  I sometimes wonder if I'm a chick at all because I HATE shopping and what I hate more than shopping is Christmas shopping and shopping in toy aisles.  I have a serious shopping centre/department store anxiety thing going on I reckon - lol!!!  Ugh I hate it when I can't find what I want immediately, when there's no help, when I have to queue and worse still I find people's manners atrocious.

I did a little shopping this morning as well.  I was patiently waiting in a queue in Target to buy gift vouchers behind a lady returning something.  Another  woman barges up beside me and pushed in Mad_bike2_resizeahead of me.  Well I was pissed off to say the least and as the sales assistant went to serve her, I pushed in and said, "I WAS NEXT" and I barged in front of her.  I've never been so aggressive like that before but PLEASE people, courtesy is free.........golly.........

I got some shopping done, it cost more than I hoped and I still have heaps to go......sigh.........at least I've made a start and that's a good one :)

Before I go I wantedMad_bike1_resize_1 to share my daughter's stunning fashion sense - roflmao.

Here she is yesterday afternoon, self dressed, having a ball ;)

These kids make me happy :)

Seeya and thanks for stopping by. xx

Bugger Bum Grumble

Still getting on top of my computer annoyance. :(

I have my computer back in full working order, thank goodness for geek husbands.:)

But.................

I have LOST all the files that were on my desktop - class notes and lists, all manner of text and ideas and edited photos ready to be printed :(

I have LOST over two years worth of saved emails.  Many of them publication notifications but I've also lost EVERY Max newsletter - sorry Amber :( and gorgeous emails from friends who've sent me nice things......*sob*

And my entire address book is GONE.  This is possibly the most frustrating aspect of this whole saga.  My flipping address book.  If I email you regularly, or even if I don't and you've got a sec, could you PLEASE email me so I can get your address back.  The link is up on the left.  It's a bloody nuisance.:(

Okay proper post coming soon, I promise...:)  Might even include some scrapping - lol!

But back to this computer crap...sigh..........

Computer Crisis

Grrr...........I have SO much to blog and NO computer to blog it!!!

We have managed to acquire some stupid nasty virus on my computer, in spite of the fact that we do the right stuff to prevent them and I'm borrowing Nathan's laptop to have a bit of a surf.

Annoyingly I actually have stuff to blog with photos and all, A huge post waiting to happen in fact but unfortunately the laptop has none of my photos and no network capabilities while my computer is down. :(

Lucky for me, I am married to a bit of a computer geek and he's fixing it for me as we speak and I can't tell you how much work I got done tonight with no computer - lol!!!

So, I should be back in the next day or so but for now I am MIA!! I have email but that's about it.

Seeya ;o)
