Okay I admit it. I have a SERIOUS addiction to the band Wolfmother . Those guys seriously ROCK. I'm not sure what attracts me to them. I've always loved a bit of heavy music but I have been listening to the song "The Joker and the Thief" over and over all day today. At work (yep sorry Amber I had to put it on the work computer - lol ), in the car, at home, right now in fact. It's such a COOL song. Anyway it's in my sidebar to the left there. I'm warning you though, you need to listen to it LOUD.
Oh and it's there because seriously I think Johnny Knoxville is one of THE hottest dudes alive....;) While I think those Wolfmother boys need a haircut, putting Johnny Knoxville in their videoclip was a smart move for a chick who likes to perve on a bit of eye candy every now and then ;)
I put the cd in the car today and both Alexander and Madeleine were saying, "Turn it up Mum" in the car on the way to school and creche. Of course I did and they loved it. They were having a bit of a sing and an air guitar play in the back of the car. It was gorgeous to see them enjoying it. Anyway we got to school and I pulled over and got out to open Alex's door and kiss him goodbye. It became apparent after a few moments that the music was still playing loudly and coming from the speaker in my open car door and attracting a lot of stares from other parents. Oh golly, am I too old for this stuff? I was soooooooo embarrassed. **BLUSH** For goodness' sake I'm a 30-something old Mum. I work in a SCRAPBOOK shop. I'm meant to be conservative I think. I've been contemplating joining parent's club and doing canteen duty. I help out at kinder and do reading and here I am with heavy metal music blasting from my car like some 1980s bogan. Remember that awesome word - BOGAN - love it - ROFLMAO. Let's just say the parents looked at me like I was a freak and Alexander's friends thought his Mum was COOL - aw I drove off just about peeing my pants I was laughing - and cringing SO hard....
I've gone off track a bit but it's got me thinking today. Like I said I'm not sure what attracts me to them. After months of being addicted to the smooth mellow sounds of Jack Johnson and Pete Murray, this rockin' music has me surprised. I think they remind me of 70s rock music. The kind my parents listened to when I was a kid. My parents were young. Quite young in fact. That made them and their friends cool. Not that I knew it at the time - lol. They had parties with their cool friends and cool music :) So I'm thinking that Wolfmother maybe reminds me of then. A really happy time for me. Of Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin. Music that to this day is still played heaps as it transcends trends.
Or, it could remind me of being a teenager. Yep my best high school pal Raelene and I used to be the only girls in a kind of a 'gang' of heavy metal headed boys at school. We didn't fit in much with the girls...Um yeah I was going to post a photo of us in our Megadeth t-shirts which would have been funny, but embarrassing......Despite the fact that we were confused teenagers just trying to fit in, it was actually one of the best periods of my life so far. In retrospect. Not at the time. A gawky sixteen year old with blossoming body parts still developing, bitchy girls at school, cranky teachers and even crankier parents, boys boys boys, you know it - lol. Hmm, I am busting to scrap that. I'll add it to the list.........
Now speaking of scrapbooking, the new Scrapbooking For Beginner's magazine arrived at work today. I ripped it open to see as I knew I had two projects in there. Well didn't I get a surprise to see the size of this layout in there:

Oh my goodness. There was a customer that i know at the counter and I actually gasped when i found the page because I expected it to be printed small and it takes up a WHOLE page. More peeing in my pants laughing.......even now while I'm typing. Far out it was VERY confronting to see that!!! Geez lucky I can laugh at myself and my serious dorkiness........aw rofl............mind you I cringe a bit every time I look at it - tee hee hee hee........
This is in there too:

I love how they presented my layouts in this magazine. While the colours were not quite right, the projects have been presented beautifully, and they wrote the nicest things about my work. The Scrapbooking For Beginner's book is produced by Universal magazines, same publishers as Scrapbook Creations and all I can say is THEY ROCK!!! And so does that mag. It's cheaper than the others and it's ONLY projects, not tonnes of ads and stuff - yummy!!! No way is it only for beginners..
And, have you been to the Scrap to The Max gallery yet? Have a look at the layouts from my Sheer Delight class, like seriously! It still amazes me that I can teach a class from home. No-one could see me sitting here like sweaty slob, and no-one could hear me telling my kids to get back to bed. While it was heaps of work it was AWESOME to do it this way - woohoo, I can see I'm going to love doing this for a bit - hopefully :D
And I had a parent-teacher interview with Alexander's grade two teacher earlier tonight and she said he has NO problems with ANYTHING. I didn't expect any but truly she said it just like that. She said how much she loves having him in class and covered the stuff they do and just couldn't have praised him enough. He's at the top for his reading and for everything. I'm SO proud of him. She said he's breezing through school and so far he really has. We've had the odd hiccup but honestly we couldn't be more lucky. So, on Friday in the last 10 minutes of school, I'm taking icy poles for the whole grade. I did a bad bad thing yesterday. I promised Alex I'd drop him in an icy pole to school at lunch time. Icy poles for him and some of his friends. So he told his friends. And they waited. And I FORGOT. Oh my goodness, poor boy. So I'm treating the whole grade and he thinks that's a good idea.
Okay that's about it for now. It's nearly time for Men In Trees. I'm not normally a huge fan of TV but I'm loving this series. I have a super huge long day at work tomorrow but that's okay, I have one of the best jobs in the world so you'll hear no complaints from me - except for this disgusting heat!
Okay stay cool and un-sweaty - lol, and thanks for stopping by ;)
