Okay so you put an idea out there, a thought, a wish, a something, and sometimes, something comes back to you.
My blog post the other day about how sad I was about the suffering of children, kept me thinking about it non stop, about how could I make some little difference somewhere.
And then I got a call from Marie at Simply Said - a newish scrapbooking shop here in my town, saying she'd followed the link from here to Meet Me At Mikes and that they were running a wonderfully ingenious campaign to raise funds for the more-worthy-than-worthy Mirabel Foundation, and did I think we should take part.
Meet Me at Mikes is a DIVINE shop in Melbourne with the most drool-worthy goodies and a gift for gorgeous window displays. I love reading the blog and often wish I lived closer to the city so I too could take part in their luscious-sounding crafty days.
Anyway, getting back to the point of this post, although I'm distracted by Mikes delights, I am taking part in their *Heart* campaign and I would LOVE you to jump on board too. They are asking for donations of hearts to hang in the window. Any type of crafty heart made from any type of media, to be hung in their gorgeous shop window, and then sold off and ALL funds donated to the Mirabel foundation.
The Mirabel Foundation is AMAZING! This is from their site -
Mirabel Foundation was established in 1998 to assist children who have
been orphaned or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use and are now
in the care of extended family (kinship care). Mirabel believes that
every child deserves a childhood and its mission is to break
the destructive cycle of addiction
I think that it's an absolutely wonderful cause, and how easy to make a heart and post it. A little of your time and materials and you too can contribute to making a difference in a child's life. Drugs ruin SO MANY lives, so many children, with no choice are affected, and I for one am very excited at the opportunity to use my scrapbooking to help raise funds for such a worthy cause. I have emailed every scrapper I could find in my address book, but still have lots and lots of people I'd love to get in touch with, so if you are reading this, or you know someone who might be interested, feel free to email me, or just take part.
To be involved, all you have to do is make a heart and post it by February 8th (short notice I know, sorry) to:
Simply Said
32 Queen Street
Warragul Vic 3820
or you can send them directly to Meet Me At Mikes. We will be personally delivering all scrapped hearts that have been sent to Simply Said if you send them there -one I get to see them all and drool over them, and by delivering them personally, I get to drool over the shop, and most likely leave with more goodies than I arrive there with!!
On your heart, please attach a luggage sized tag with the following.....
I heart:
Please check out the Mikes blog for details, or email me with any questions and I will try hard to answer them and if you are LOCAL to me, I will be working at a heart-making workshop on February 9th at Simply Said. I, and everyone else there, will be donating our time and skills to the day, and Remember When have donated FIFTY chipboard heart bases for anyone to use at the workshop - how cool is that???
I personally have been humbled and overwhelmed already tonight from the support we are already receiving. The scrapbooking community really is an amazing thing to be a part of, and I *heart* it - lol!!!

Gidday Nicole, sounds like a fab idea....would love to visit that shop........I shall rustle up some hearts.
No probs.
